Sea Power Shipping Enterprises Inc. (SPSEI) was organized in December 1987. It started its operations after being licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in February 1988. From 20 vessels in 1989, the number has rose up to 70 vessels in 1991, and by March 2000, patronage of the company has shoot up to 190 vessels. As of January 2011, SPSEI caters to 220 vessels and is still growing under a highly efficient and experienced management team.
The company has earned its ISO certification for quality management systems in 1996 and has upgraded its certification from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008 last December 8, 2009. Moreover, for the continued exemplary performance through the years, Sea Power has been awarded as Top Performer by POEA in 1997, 1998 and the years 1999-2000; and subsequently, the Award of Excellence for 2005 and 2009.
Up to the present, Sea Power Shipping is unrelenting in its efforts and stays totally committed in achieving the highest standards of marine personnel recruitment and training throughout the shipping industry worldwide. The company's achievements over the years are hoped to have significant contributions to the shipping industry and most importantly to the Philippine socio-economic growth. The policy of Sea Power Shipping Enterprises, Inc. is to provide all Principals with manpower to ocean-going vessels (mostly foreign owned) that consistently exceed their expectations in relation to Quality, Safety, Reliability, Principal Service and Environmental Responsibilities. Sea Power Shipping Enterprises, Inc. is totally committed to achieving the highest Management standards with particular emphasis placed upon safe workingpractices and continuous improvement of the skills of personnel. The commitment to quality includes the provision of safe working practices and environment, prevention of pollution, establishing safeguards against all identified risks, evaluating audit results, analyzing the cause of nonconformances and evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Sea Power Shipping Enterprises, Inc. is committed to enhancing Principal requirements and the continuous improvement and effectiveness of the Quality Management System. This policy is appropriate for the purpose of organization and provides the framework for establishing objectiveness which are then reviewed. There is a constant drive to satisfy our Principals, while always being mindful of our responsibility to the Philippine Legislation, Standards, Employees and the broader community. This involves encouraging the active participation, endeavor and contribution of ideas from all personnel. These high standards of work and safety will be achieved by operating a Quality Management System that meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
The Management System will allow business decision-making processes to control and monitor risks and verify adherence to performance standards. Compliance with this policy, objectives and associated procedures is mandatory and binding upon all employees. Quality is the responsibility of everyone working for and on behalf of Sea Power Shipping Enterprises, Inc. Principal satisfaction and the good name of the Company are directly dependent upon this working philosophy. The Quality Management Representative (QMR) has the responsibility and authority to coordinate, develop and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the Quality System and for ensuring that the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 are met.
Sea Power History
Sea Power Shipping Enterprises, Inc. (SPSEI) was organized in December 1987. It started its operation after being licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on February 1988, holding office at the 4th Floor of J & T Bldg, corner Santol Road, Magsaysay Boulevard, Sta. Mesa, Manila. The office was headed by the President and Chairman of the Board, Capt. Eleftherios Polemis, a Greek National. The Company's main line of business is Ship-Manning Services.
Being seasoned seafaring officers, Captain Polemis and the Company's Owner's Representatives, namely Capt. Ioannis Tiverios and Captain Demetrios Kontos had observed and studied the training, capabilities, temperament and characteristics of men appropriate for each grade needed in ocean-going vessels. This knowledge had been applied in their selection and recruitment of the required compliment of officers and crew for their patron. The rigid standards of personnel hiring and their satisfactory performance had satisfied their principals, which wittingly or unwittingly must have disseminated among fellow Ship Owners, the discipline and efficiency of men supplied by the agency.
It is no wonder that their clientele, having abruptly increased from 20 vessels in 1989 to 70 vessels in 1991, upgrading further the already rigid standards and dealing squarely with their principal's patronage of the company, ballooned up to 187 vessels in March 2000. Due to this demand to supply these vessels with competent and efficient crew, the company had no alternative but to relocate to a bigger and more spacious site in order to accommodate the many applicants who trek to the office daily. Hence, Sea Power Shipping moved to a location occupying formerly 560 sq.m. to a total of 836.60 sq.m. comprising of the ground floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor and Unit 3896 of J & T Bldg.
The Corporation was formerly spearheaded by Ms. Estefany A. Dela Fuente who had replaced Capt. Polemis as President in June 6, 1992. She resigned on January 2, 2002 and Ms. Liberty N. Capuz, the former Finance Manager replaced her. Eventually on the second quarter of 2007, SPSEI Board of Directors elected new officers namely: Ms. Antoniette Isabel A. Guerrero, the new President/Chairman of the Board and Ms. Joselyn C. Guiritan, the new Vice-President/QMR. Hopefully, with the cooperation of all the officers and staff, the company will continue or even surpass its phenomenal growth in the past.
On August 25, 2010, just months before the company's official mark of 23rd year in the business, SPSEI's steady growth was highlighted again with the inauguration of the new office of 1,300 sq.m. at the 2nd and 4th floors, Sun Plaza Bldg., corner Princeton St. Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City.

SeaPower's growth reached serving 208 vessels
The company's steady growth demanded for a more modern facility, SeaPower moved 8 kilometers and in the strategic edge of a booming business district. Sun Plaza Building.
The rapid expansion of demand and new processes, the company moved to another location right beside the previous one, Sea Power's largest location comprises of two floors and an ajoining bridge for two building called Shaw Plaza 1 & 2.
